Steampunk Deerling

At long last its done, behold the digitalization of my four Steampunk Deerling sketches.  With an additional piece properly showing off their colors and an interaction.  As a bonus I put in a quick background of the setting they're in.

So, introductions to my four new Pokemon, they are a team of surveyors, surveying the mountains of their region for suitable places to set up outposts, airship docks, city foundations, underground buildings, even aqueducts.  They survey the areas, drawing up detailed and accurate maps describing where and how foundations should be put in, how much weight the area could hold, and where to not put anything.  Then they sell their plans to prospectors looking to set up one of the aforementioned structures.

I've actually come up with a story idea for these gals that I'm gonna try and tell.  I'm trying really hard to keep this one short and simple, so it's gonna be in novel format, with some accompanying art for each chapter.  It'll take place in the same world as my other planned Pokemon story and so will operate under the same rules.

The art will be in comic format and each page will have scenes from multiple chapters in them.  The art itself will also be simpler than my current comics.  The lineart will probably be the same, but color wise I'm going to try a style of single solid colors for characters and backgrounds.  The individual pictures of the gals above shows what this style would look like.

Spring
-The eldest of the four deerling with 29 winters under her, she is the leader of this band, and is the primary business negotiator when dealing with potential buyers.  She uses her smarts, experience, wit and charm to get as large of a price as she can from buyers.  She keeps the other three on task and manages their money affairs. 

-She has a short temper, but rather than get angry she gets snarky, sassy and sarcastic.  Basically she becomes super passive aggressive.  This becomes a problem when dealing with Winter and Summer, who each aggravate her for different reasons. 

-She gets into about a dozen arguments with Winter on a daily basis, and has to keep Summer from getting herself into trouble at least two dozen times whenever they go to a new city. Autumn is definitely her favorite because she rarely causes problems.

-She likes to keep herself looking presentable, both for the sake of business and because she enjoys it.

-Spring will sometimes act very bossy and know it all when directing the other three in tasks, typically if she's aggravated.  This causes problems with Winter, who doesn't like being bossed around.

Summer
-The youngest of the group, she has only recently reached the age of full adulthood.  She is the group's entertainment and barterer whenever they need to exchange goods or resupply.  She is a natural singer, able to sing gentle lullabies or play exciting diddies on her banjo.  She appears innocent and naive but unknowingly possesses a lot of competence.

-Her outward innocence and naiveté leads many to let their guard down around her, allowing her to unwittingly dupe them into giving her the better part of the deal when bartering.  She's so good at this that Spring will often bring her into negotiations with buyers to help give them the edge in the deal.

-She has an insatiable curiosity about new places and has to go stick her muzzle into everything, literally.  This gets on Spring's nerves to no end, as she has to constantly keep an eye on her lest she slip away and discover some super secret illegal operation in a hidden cellar.

-Summer gets along really well with Winter, so much so that she's composed a couple songs specifically about the larger Deerling, who's both embarrassed by this and simultaneously uses it to feed her ego. She loves watching Autumn whenever she's gathering surveying data.  She so engrossed by the process Spring never has to worry about her wondering off.  

Autumn
-The second eldest of the group, Autumn is their primary Surveyor, the one with the talent for finding those miracle sweet spots on the tall cracked mountains of the region.  She gathers all the raw data needed and produces the detailed drawings.  She is also the most scientifically, mathematically, and metallurgically inclined of the group. 

-Spring will bring her in to describe the specifics of the plans they're trying to sell.  She provides an in depth description about a sample of the plans, doing her best to make them as appealing as possible, which isn't hard, as every one of her surveys are of very reliable locations.

-She is a quiet doe, often times content with just watching the others instead of participating with them.  However if prompted she can go off on in-depth talks about one of her fields of expertise.  For some reason she always finds the others spellbound when she finishes.  She still can't figure out why, her talks can't be that interesting.

-She loves working with Winter on perfecting her moves, providing good advice and analysis on how Winter can keep improving.  She also enjoys listening to Summer ramble on about whatever crazy adventure she got up to in the last city.

Winter
-The second youngest of the group, winter is the group's fighter, and usually the one who gets them all out of tough situations.  She's very headstrong and proud, ready to defend her ego when challenged and always always itching for a good fight or contest.

-Winter is a strong, athletic deerling who stands at least a head above any of the other three.  She's a skilled fighter, able to switch up her tactics on the fly to adapt to various enemies.  To that end she also knows a wide variety of moves, which only adds to her flexibility in any fight they get into.  Which are most often caused by her.

-She has a short temper, and can't stand dealing with long boring discussions.  Spring forbids her from speaking in the business negotiations, preferring her to be the strong silent type guard.  And with good reason, whenever Winter speaks its often something antagonizing to the buyer, which usually ends in a fight.

-Winter doesn't like being bossed around, so she butts heads with Spring at least several times a day.  While she may not like boring business talks, she could listen to Autumn go on forever about metals and surveying stuff.  Autumn is also an extreme help with her training, providing good advice for new moves and training techniques.  She easily gets along with Summer, finding her bubbly yammering stories entertaining, and is secretly flattered about the songs she writes about her.
